Athens University History Museum
RPGs4Museums – Role Playing Games as Hybrid Museum Kits
With the support of the Funding Support Office of NKUA, the Athens University History Museum successfully participated in the Basic Research Financing Action (Horizontal Support of All Sciences), dedicated to Digital Applications in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage. The Host Institution is the Research and Innovation Center “ATHENA”, and the Principal Investigator is Professor Yannis Ioannidis, Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, NKUA.
The main objective of RPGs4Museums is to contribute to scientific research in Cultural Informatics in the field of participatory activities for visitor engagement, for children and adolescents, aiming to promote historical empathy and the development of soft skills.

Dr. Aikaterini Pantoula
FIHELaD – Factors In Home and Environment Language Development
With the support of the Funding Support Office of NKUA, the Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics Lab, and the National Contact Point of the PRAXI Network, Dr. Pantoula secured a two-year fellowship to further develop her professional career and advance her research on language development in bilingual students.
FIHELaD applies modern neuroscientific methods, such as eye-tracking, to study the acquisition of syntactically complex structures in both the heritage language and the majority language of bilingual learners. The project aims to investigate the linguistic, cognitive, and demographic factors shaping the development of grammatical systems in these languages.

Funded by Horizon Europe WIDERAETHCSTWIN – Reinforcing the Scientific Excellence of the Institute for Ethnopharmacological Studies and Phytotherapy (IESP) through Twinning with Computer Science(CS)
The ETHCSTWIN initiative aims to establish a strong collaborative network between the Institute for Ethnopharmacological Studies and Phytotherapy (IESP / NKUA) and leading academic and industry partners from Italy, Germany, Kosovo, and the biotech sector. The project focuses on integrating ethnopharmacological knowledge into advanced computational and digital frameworks through AI, Machine Learning, and Data Mining by the establishment of the first European Ethnopharmacology and Phytotherapy Ecosystem.

Niki Saoulidou, Associate Professor, Physics
Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and H.F.R.I.Discovery hubs with jets at CEM
Professor Niki Saoulidou’s ERC Advanced Grant proposal was favorably evaluated during the second phase of the evaluation process (grade A’), but it was not funded due budget limitations (hereon “the ERC Proposal”).
Subsequently, the ERC Proposal was selected for funding under the 5th Call for Action “Science and Society” – “Always Strive for Excellence – Theodore Papazoglou”, co-funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.), receiving funding of €1 million to continue the research activities.
The Funding Support Office provided support to Professor Niki Saoulidou throughout the ERC Advanced Grant evaluation process, particularly in the preparation for the interview stage, as well as during the entire procedure for securing the national funding.

Establishment of a private medical practice by a Professor of the Medical School
The Action is co-funded by the EU European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national funds.Aid for the Formation and Operation of New Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
Within the framework of the Action “Aid for the Formation and Operation of New Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises”, the Funding Support Office undertook the establishment of a private medical practice by a Professor of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The proposal received a score of 100 and was approved among the top-ranked ones.
